REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: One year in similar position.
Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination. Frequent walking, speaking, writing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, and turning. Some lifting up to 75 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Other Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, email, and internet. Valid, current Driver’s License. Ability to keep student information confidential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Assists in the preparation of behavior strategies along with Principal and Behavior Specialist.
- Provides assistance to students with behavioral needs (emotional support, physical management).
- Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives.
- Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher and behavior specialist with students one to one and in small groups in special education classroom and/or general education classroom.
- Meets with teachers, behavior specialists, administrators, and parents regarding behavioral concerns of students.
- Provides assistance in maintaining student records/data.
- Supervises students in the absence of teacher.
- Escorts students to various areas of the building.
- Monitors students during recess, lunchroom, study halls, and in hallways.
- Participates in cross walk duty rotation before and after school hours at elementary schools.
- Transports students to and from home or respective learning environments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
