REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: One year of previous band instruction; three years preferred.
Physical Requirements: Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, hearing, intermittent repetitive motion with wrists, hands, and fingers. The ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, sit, grasp, pull, and carry. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Other Requirements: Proficient with wind and percussion instruments. Skilled in organization, public relations, and time management. Ability to write and interpret marching band formations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Responsible for maintaining an active Band program.
- Supervises and maintains band music library.
- Coordinates the participation of marching band competitions, parades, festivals, and region contests.
- Prepares students for auditions, rehearsals, and performances of All State Band and All State Jazz Band.
- Organizes and conducts pep band at athletic events.
- Rehearses band sectionals, combined bands, and group lessons.
- Maintains and inventories band instruments and uniforms.
- Collects and processes data for awards program.
- Assists with and monitors band booster activities.
- Supervises students while traveling.
- Assists the Activities Director with the budgeting and material requisition process.
- Responsible for coordinating fundraising activities with Activities Director.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
